Belly dance is a ravishing art form that has touched hearts in all corners of the world. Whether you’re already experienced in the dance or have been intrigued in dipping your toe in, all genders, ages, body types and levels of experience are welcome to join.
You’ll be guided through the importance of belly dance for your body, a variety of hypnotic drills and a memorable choreography to take home with you!
Come along to this one-of-a-kind workshop and relish in hearty MENAHT (Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic, Turkish) music, tune into your divine feminine, and find a new way to empower your mind, body and spirit through the drum beat
Experience level: Open level
What do bring: Please wear comfortable clothing that helps you clearly see your hip and chest movements, preferably tight fitting.
Optional: hip scarves (although Joanna will also bring enough for everybody to wear if you don’t have one).
This is a live in-person workshop located in our Richmond studio. Class numbers will be capped to ensure a personalised experience. Strict hygeine and physical distancing restrictions will apply. A full studio clean will be completed between each class.
About Joanna Angelidis
For over 20 years, Joanna has had experience in numerous dance forms - from ballet, to jazz, to musical theatre. Growing up in a Greek household pulled her towards both the graceful and passionate world of belly dance.
She frequents the nightlife scene as a professional belly dancer providing entertainment, joy and a sense of belonging for each event she performs for.
Her belly dance style is of traditional oriental, however she is known in Australia for her dance influences in musical theatre, queer culture and cabaret.
