Want to sew your very own burlesque outfit?
In this class you will make a classic set: triangle bra, g-string and panel skirt. You will gain confidence and skills, as you are guided step-by-step in the process each week by Catherine of Crystal Pegasus Costumes. By the end of term, you will have the basics for a classic costume, ready for the stage!
You will gain experience working with stretch and non-stretch fabric, using a pattern, as well as drafting patterns to your own measurements. You will have a choice (at time of booking) for which colour fabric you wish to use (black, nude, blue or red). In week 8, you will have the option to bring in your own lace and trim as we look at sewn-on decorations.
This class has a total of 20 hours of workshop time! It runs over an 8 week term at Maison Burlesque, with a two and a half hour class each week.
This is a great introduction to sewing and is the perfect preparation for those wishing to go on to complete the “Sew Your Own Underbust Corset” class.
WHAT TO BRING:
Wear clothing you feel comfortable in. It should be well fitted, to allow measurements to be taken when needed.
Students are required to supply their own sewing machine (which should have been serviced within the last 12 months) and extra needles, as well as basic sewing kit including hand sewing needles, glass headed sewing pins, fabric scissors, paper scissors, measuring tape, ruler and fabric chalk.
The fabric, notions, and patterns will be provided and are included in the cost of this class.
In week 8, you will have the option to bring in your own lace and trim as we look at sewn-on decorations.
Students will need to provide their bust, underbust, waist and hip measurements prior to class, so appropriately sized patterns can be selected. Instructions for how to do this will be provided.
All enrolments are for a 8 week course in our studio in Richmond. Casual drop-ins are not available for this class.
Class numbers will be capped at a maximum of 8 students.
